EGREEN participates in a Regional Workshop on Energy

A two-day Regional Energy Workshop was organized by the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan under the patronage of H.E. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. The workshop took place on January 29, 2019 in Dead Sea area.

Prof. Ahmed Al-Salaymeh, the coordinator of EGREEN, was the chairman of organizing committee for the conference.

The workshop aimed to address the needed updates for the energy strategy in Jordan, and tackle the challenges of socio-economic development and climate change in Jordan. ​

Guiding and inspiring speeches from the key actors of Energy and Water Sectors in Jordan (H.E. Eng. Hala Zawati, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, and H.E. Secretary General of Water Authority of Jordan, Eng. Iyad Dahiyat).

The Vice President of the University of Jordan praised the role of the University of Jordan in hosting such projects aimed at serving the community and addressing its problems, pointing out its constructive cooperation with many European universities in a number of projects supported by The European Union and its leadership in this area.

The conference gathered about 54 participants from Jordan, Europe, Tunisia, and Morocco representing over 25 organizations from academia, industry, civil society, public authorities, research centers to explore and discuss opportunities and strengths related to energy sector in Jordan.

The agenda began with welcomes by the event organizer, Prof. Ahmed Al-Salaymeh, H.E. Eng. Iyad Dahiyat, Secretary General of Water Authority of Jordan, Prof. Ahmed Majdoubeh, on behalf of the President of University of Jordan, and H.E. Eng. Hala Zawati, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Prof. Martin Kaltschmitt (TUHH) was a keynote speaker in the conference about energy transition via Skype.

EGREEN project Roll-up banner was placed in the workshop and brochures were distributed among participants​.
