The University of Jordan (UJ) has been awarded an overall rating of 5 Stars by the QS Stars ranking of the British 'QS Intelligence Unit', which is recognized as one of top three major rating systems worldwide.
In the recently concluded audit of Quaquarelli Symonds (QS), UJ also received the highest rating, 5 stars, in 6 important categories; Inclusiveness, Innovation, Teaching, Internationalization, Facilities and Employability.
Moreover, the 2019 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject ranked UJ among the best universities in the world in three scientific areas and eight academic subjects.
UJ achieved excellent results in significant subjects such as medicine, pharmacy, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemistry, agriculture, business, and computer science and information systems.
Discipline wise, UJ achieved a global ranking in three of them: engineering and technology, social and administrative sciences, and arts and humanities.
UJ ranked 373th globally in the field of engineering and technology, ranked 343th globally in the field of Social Sciences and Management, and 398th worldwide in Arts and Humanities.
At the level of subjects, UJ was ranked 401-450 globally in Medicine, 251-300 in Pharmacy, 301-350 in Mechanical Engineering, and in the field of computer science and information systems UJ was place in 301-350 band.
Moreover, four new subjects have entered the world list in this year's edition. In electrical engineering, UJ was ranked 351-400 globally; in chemistry it was rated 451-500; whereas in agriculture, Business Science and Management, UJ was ranked in the 301-350 category.
There are currently only three Arab universities with five-star rating. According to the QS rating, five-star universities are generally world-class institutions with a high reputation. UJ was awarded the rating of 4 Stars in 2017.
