The University of Jordan (UJ) ranked 1st in Jordan and moved up to 591-600 position globally in the newly released QS World University Ranking 2023, in comparison to ranking in the 601-650 position in the past four years.
UJ also ranked in the 243th place in terms of the Employer Reputation criteria, and in the 316th position in the Academic Reputation criteria, reflecting the quality and performance of the its graduates.
QS World University Rankings is an annual ranking of 1,500 institutions from around the world and is considered one of the top three higher education rankings in the world in terms of importance and impact, along with Times Higher Education and the Shanghai Rankings.
The ranking compares institutions on a host of different criteria, including: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, and international student ratio & international faculty ratio.
As for the QS by Subject 2022 raking, UJ was ranked in the top 500 universities in 15 majors. In particular, UJ's scores were notable in 3 majors, ranking among the best 250 universities in the world, as it ranked 101-150 in nursing, ranked 151-200 globally in pharmacy, and ranked 201-250 in computer science and information systems.
The university ranked first locally in 11 majors, namely nursing, pharmacy, mathematics, chemistry, chemical engineering, accounting and finance, business administration, educational sciences, English language and literature, linguistics, and modern languages.
