The University of Jordan has kept its first place amongst the Jordanian public and private universities according to the Ranking Web (Webometrics) which is one of the largest academic ranking of Higher Education Institutions.

UJ is ranked (9) at the level of Arab universities, jumping 7 positions compared with the previous classification. Globally, it is ranked (1507) of twenty one thousand Universities listed, jumping (168) positions.   

Yarmouk University is ranked second nationally and (18) regionally while Jordan University of Science and Technology came in third place at the level of Jordanian universities, and in the three and twentieth place at the level of Arab countries.

The President of the University of Jordan, Prof. Ekhalif Tarawneh, expressed his satisfaction for this achievement, which showed a few months of working hard within UJ's strategic vision, and proved its excellence and ability to compete the prestigious universities.

"The university seeks to occupy a prominent place globally through the development of a strategic plan extends for five years, focused on quality assurance in works, promoting scientific research, the harmonization of disciplines with the labor market and the confirmation of social responsibility, which will make many achievements in various field”, Prof. Tarawneh said.

Prof. Tarawneh stressed that UJ's achievements will be done due to the efforts of all its loyal sons, asserting its active role in the renaissance of Jordan and its true contribution to the progress and development at the global level, despite the challenges and difficulties.

The President of the University thanked all those who contributed to this achievement starting from Accreditation and Quality Assurance Center, Computer Center, Web Division, King Abdullah II School for Information Technology, assistant deans for quality assurance and liaison officers, calling them to make more efforts in order to reach more advanced and distinctive ranks.

It is should be noted that Webometrics depends on four criteria that Measure the universities’ activities on their websites in order to choose best universities globally.
 
The first criterion is the number of research studies and reports published electronically on the university website, the second criterion is the size of web pages associated with the university while the third criterion is the number of external links and the ease of access to the Website through search engines and the fourth criterion is rich files which depend on various documents belong to the university.

It is noteworthy that UJ adopted (QS) Ranking along with Webometrics in order to reach prestigious positions globally and it aspires to be one of the best (500) Universities by 2015 and amongst the top (300) Universities at the end of its strategic plan in 2018.

The University of Jordan (UJ) has maintained the first place among Jordanian universities, according to the new edition of Webometrics classification of world universities and academic institutions, released last Thursday.
 
UJ has been ranked 13 in the Arab world and 1878 in the world, given that more than twenty thousand universities were evaluated.
 
The Webometrics ranking depends in determining the best universities in the world based on the web presence and impact of the university on the basis of four criteria. The first criterion is Scholar which represents the number of publications being collected by Google Scholar database (15%), the second criterion is the web size of the University which is the number of pages recovered from search engines (20%), third is the number of external links (50%), and the forth one is the rich files which represents the number of different types of electronic files (15%).
 
"The University is considerably paying attention to its Website as it represents a interface of the university and provides an audience of students, faculty, staff and those interested with information and services they need," said Prof. Hala Khyami-Hourani, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies.
 
Khyami added that the classification is an indication of the progress and development of the Website in terms of content and services, and a motivation for further work to develop the web presence of the University by sensing the needs of the users.
 
Khyami thanked all those who contributed to this achievement; including the Higher Follow-Up Committee for the Website, Accreditation and Quality Assurance Center, Computer Center, King Abdullah II School for Information Technology, assistant deans for quality affairs and websites liaison officers, urging them to exert more efforts to reach more advanced ranks.
 
It note worthy that the University, in its pursuit to reach the universality, has adopted alongside the Webometrics ranking, the (QS) World University Ranking and seeks to achieve advanced positions on this scale.

The Quality Assurance and Security Department organized A "Certified Software Tester ISTQB Foundation Level" training course which was held at the Computer Center by the Jordanian Software Testing Qualification Board between the period of 16th-26th June 2014, the attendances were members of both the Quality Assurance and Security department and the Systems and Programming Departments.

The Database Section held an ORACLE DBA training course at the Computer Center between the period of 14th of September – 2nd of October, the attendances were members of the Computer Center.

The Quality Assurance and Security Department organized A "Secure Coding Essentials" training course which was held at the Computer Center by the IT SECURITY C&T between the period of 13th-15th Oct 2014, the attendances were members of both the Quality Assurance and Security department and the Systems and Programming Department.

According to the directions of the Chancellor of the university for updating the university website to be more flexible, more user friendly in finding information, and more attractive, the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Center - Website Department, and Computer Center - Website and Web Applications Division are happy to announce the launch of the new University of Jordan Main Website in both languages: Arabic and English as of 4:00 pm this evening; Tuesday, 14/03/2017.
All schools links will be activated successively in the next few days and we expect that this process will continue for a week from today's date.​
